Reflections groups 4

Day two and day three

Our day two focused on nutrition and related health issues. The students were energetic since experiences in food and nutrition in their own contexts is common. The activity was for them to reflect on nutrition provided by their own school communities. It was interesting for them to relate on how today’s nutrition could impact on their growth and academic development. Through the activity the students became aware of prevalence, government budget and health consequences that result from unhealthy and unbalanced nutrition. The tablets in addition to their personal phones became tools for researching on this sensitive matter and finally voice their concerns to school administrators to rethink on meals provided by their schools. One group took this opportunity to start working on their final presentations.

Day three had challenges with time to complete planned activities. Our group had limited time to complete activities planned for the day. However, the main objective for the day to discuss about global waters was achieved. The assignment helped students to look differently on the fact that water is not only a problem in developing countries but also to the developed world on how water is consumed. When they had developed the piece of land and waterfront offered to them to develop and invest, their perspective of use of water locally, and globally created discussion topics.

Overall, the day was smooth and productive by participants moving a step forward on their final projects.
